                        Standardized Testing

I was one of the students that always struggled with testing, I would get nervous and anxious. If I knew I had a test the next day I would beg my parents to let me stay home. When I got older I realized I had test anxiety, It would eat me alive all day I had to know what I got immediately and if I didn't I would be so nervous the whole day, but when I was younger I would get over it at recess. In grade school I remember taking STAR testing, and Placement testing these test were the test we prepared for every single year for the whole year. I remember we would get a piece of candy before or after these test. Teachers would tell us to try our best and make sure we take our time. We would go into the computer lab and take our test and after we would test we would get to pretty much relax the rest of the day. Have brain breaks, indoor or outdoor recess, or watch movies. Now, when I got to high school ACT, and work keys those were make or break if you wanted to do anything in trade work keys was a must pass but if you wanted to continue your education and get into a good college you needed to do amazing on your ACT. I hated taking the ACT, I would study and do practice exams all to get a score I was never proud of. I now know that I would still get into a good school and get to do what I have always wanted to do, be a teacher. I think standardized testing can be beneficial in ways that it gets to see the progress that your students have made or what they can improve. They can track progress throughout all the years and collect good data on what we can teach more of and what we could teach less of depending on how many students do well in that specific topic or lesson. Now, for a student like me these test can be stressful so obviously I think that for students like me thy are not the best if you are a stress ball but I do believe they have their benefits.
